G3 The Guardian of Earth eBook Maggie Toussaint Rigel Carson Reviews
I was given an advance copy of this book with a request for an honest review.
In G-3, Maggie Toussaint/Rigel Carson's Zeke Landry returns, and once more has to step into his role as Guardian of Earth. Zeke's not too happy about having to leave his island. Being a recluse is his comfort zone, not dealing with alien invaders, and this time, he has to sort out the evil species from the 'not so bad' ones.
Carson brings back the familiar cast of characters, including Forman the android, who makes an effective sidekick to Landry's more staid personality. Jessie returns as well, and she's pregnant, giving Zeke a sizeable dose of motivation to get out there and save his planet.
G-3 rounds out the Guardians of Earth stories nicely, and Carson's deft writing leaves readers wondering if there will be a G-4 in the near future.
Had to have it...my name used in it!!! Great series!
Great read. Loved it, can't wait til G-3.
I received this as an ARC from the author for a fair and honest review.
G-3 is the third book in the Guardian of Earth Series by Rigel Carson. I have not read either of the previous books in the series, but my lack of story history only stymied me a few times. Frankly, this story grabbed me from beginning, and the event of the alien invaders riding in via meteors is brilliant!
Zeke Landry is the conscientious and much tested Guardian of Earth. He’s also not human, a fact that not even his wife, Jessie, knows. I secretly hoped she’d find out the truth during the course of this story. I would have loved to see her have a larger more pro-active role, but there’s the itsy-bitsy detail that she’s pregnant with the next Guardian of Earth and it’s hard to be pro-active when you have 24-hour morning sickness.
The primary, secondary, and support characters are well-rounded and likeable. Forman, Zeke’s android body guard/assistant, is easily my favorite secondary character. What happens to him in the end is mind-blowing and you can bet I’ll be reading the next book to find out what happens. I also look forward to reading about Zeke’s reaction when he discovers Jessie’s right about the gender of their baby. Pure speculation on my part, but she’s just gotta be right about this one.
The build-up of tension to the final showdown is very well done. Overall, an engaging, entertaining, and thoroughly enjoyable story. Now I’m going back to read G-1 and G-2!
I have been reading The Guardian of Earth series as fast as Carson can put them out. I am invested in the story and the characters. I especially like the dolphins and was so glad that they played a role in G-3. Forman, an android with humanized tendencies, is definitely my favorite. He's a body guard/assistant to Dr. Zeke Landry and plays an important part working to save our planet from annihilation when invading cosmic entities enter our atmosphere with a meteor shower and poison our oceans. The aliens are replicating and transforming themselves at an alarming rate. They even have a zombie-like ability to infiltrate host human cadavers and re-animate them. Dr. Landry, of course, is playing his role as the guardian of our planet with the help of his father. However, this assault on Earth has ratcheted up the stakes as Landry's wife is pregnant with the next guardian. This novel was based on a very intriguing premise made all the more interesting by Carson's scientific background. It makes one wonder about the plausibility of just such a scenario playing out. Very fun read.
Dr. Zeke Landry, a descendant of the Ancient Ones and Guardian of the Earth, must defend his planet against an invasion of body-snatching aliens. These beings arrive courtesy of a meteor shower and set about consuming humans as food. In the form of dust, they cover an individual and take over his life energy. With their shape-shifting abilities, it’s almost impossible for Zeke to track them. No matter; they’ll find him because he’s the one person who can stop them. He must summon powers only recently awakened, unite his allies, and repel the invaders before they annihilate humanity. Along the way, he’ll do anything to protect his pregnant wife from harm.
With its unique science angle, memorable characters, and sense of urgency, G-3 will keep you awake at night turning pages. After reading this book, you might want to keep a cat for company.
I read The Guardian of Earth series over a couple of days, and must say in my opinion the series was disappointing at best. The books reminded me of the early pulp Sci-Fi from the late 50s and early 60s, and not the good stuff. It was like reading the Hardy Boys and Tom Swift level of writing, just updated for today’s technology. The most positive thing I can say about the book, was it was funny, but not sure if that was the author’s intent, or just a side effect of the writing.
This is a fast paced novel that holds your interest. The science is realistic and not full of errors. The characters are well-developed, interesting, thoughtful, and fun. Good job on the trilogy!
